Great ad! Fuck animal rights fanatics!

I think the ad's ok, but if anyone gets offended by it, then they are indeed displacing their anger. It's a joke.

I don't like the depiction of any kind of animal abuse, even if it's meant to be funny. What if you replaced the dog with a toddler, would it still be that funny? Stupid people see this stuff and it reaffirms their belief that hurting animals is ok. Take a look at the whole dog fighting controversy right now. Those are the people I'm talking about.

You honestly think that people who condone dog fighting are influenced by stuff like this? I don't think they give a shit what anyone thinks, nor do I think this somehow affirms their position.
It's a dumb, unfunny joke. How many dumb, unfunny jokes about priests or Michael Jackson molesting kids are there? Do they affirm child molesters?
No. Focus your efforts and your energy on things that are pertinent to your cause, not getting up in arms over a bad joke.

Actually, Yikes, you miss the point. That dog wasn't cartoon-killed. It was fried. It sat there smoldering. Quite realistically. My guess is the only people that would laugh at this are those that would shrug off seeing the real thing happen. Which makes me sick. Actually, you make me sick for defending suck trash.
Posted by: Frumpy | Jul 19, 2007 10:02:07 PM
The ad is terrible any way you fry it.
Posted by: D | Jul 19, 2007 10:32:28 PM
I don't miss your point, I disagree with it. There's a difference.
And yes, the ad sucks.
Posted by: yikes | Jul 19, 2007 11:49:04 PM
The ad sucks and is stupidly cruel. Even though many people stress about this job like it was life or death (and it's maybe the farthest thing from it), we should never portray death in our ads. It's not like a movie or a novel where you have time to give death context and meaning. Thirty seconds is not enough time and unless the product is a cancer drug, what relevance does it have to death?

While I think this ad is a pathetic attempt at a cheap and inhumane joke, I find it even more disgusting that a viral video for Europe would use what looks like an American Bulldog as the poor victim of the Nitro.
Being an American car one would think if it's going to beat up on anything it would be an Afghan hound.
That would add a whole new dimension wouldn't it?

Now if they replaced the dog with a homeless guy, that would be funny.

"we should never portray death in our ads."
---Oh really? No commercials with the grim reapper? No CPB work of a man that wants to jump off a bridge but sees a VW and changes his mind?
Give me a fucking break. Your comments are great example of the PC attitude in this stupid advertising world of ours. Don't do this, don't do that, just be plain fucking boring.
This is the kind of work that gets publicity, not 99.9% of the crappy ads I see everyday.

"Bobby," your vocabulary is weak.
So's your one-note commentary.

Unrelated AP news story in today's paper:
MAN CHARGED WITH SETTING DOG ON FIRE
A man charged with cruelty after his dog was tied to a tree and set on fire was ordered held yesterday on $50,000 bail following his arraignment in Central Islip. The dog, a pit bull called Maximus by his rescuers, died last week after three surgeries. Authorities said he smelled of gasoline when he was found, severely injured, on July 12.

I'm sure that sick piece of shit got the idea from the viral ad intended for Europe. Not because he's a sick fuck.

---Is that all you have to say? You can't even get a screen-name without defaming a New York Times Best-Selling author. Seriously dude, I hate Al Gore, but I don't call myself "Al Gore Sucks."

I stand by my original comment.
You're a tinny one-note who can't formulate a thought of your own without a-cussin'.

I agree. the two stories are unrelated, the ad and the long island dog-burner. Just a gross coincidence. Doesn't make me want to buy a car, though.

Perhaps I cuss Ann Coulter Name Stealer, but at least I think. Have you tried that lately?

You cuss Ann Coulter? Join the club.

your all retarded and on a website arguing over a commercial over dramatizing the power of a vehicle in terms of self defence against dogs who piss on tires. No one gives a shit its a commercial. I am sure there of tons of potential dog abusers in their labs at this moment working on some sort of fire shooting dog vaporizing tires because of this ad. what a joke! You guys need a hobby.
Posted by: its a commercial | Jun 18, 2008 2:54:51 AM
I agree its a joke >> i mean its a stupid ad not real life torture like some people do >> they should just fucking put it in BRIGHT LARGE printed letters saying "NO animals were harmed in the making of this video, that goes to all you whiny pansies" lol makes me wonder what would happened if they would of aired that kind of commercial here in the U.S. lol
