Let your tarantula hands do the walking

Hands Ana at Spare Room alerts us to this odd new commercial from Saatchi & Saatchi Auckland for the New Zealand Yellow Pages. From the looks of it, the disembodied hand from The Addams Family escaped, found another disembodied hand and had dozens of disembodied hand kids, all of whom have a common goal: to scurry around like spiders, running errands for Yellow Pages users. Of course, this work is a throwback to the old “Let your fingers do the walking” campaign, which began in the early 1960s and featured its own hands walking around and finding stuff in the Yellow Pages. The new campaign’s tagline, “Does the finding for you,” is also an echo of the original.

Very cute, I thought it was a little mean when the guy kicked the hand at the end though...

This is a great example of corporations thinking outside the box and word of mouth advertisement. It will get people talking..
