Obama Girl’s lead is narrowing in the polls
Agency.com strategist Ben Relles is developing quite a viral video franchise. After scoring 3 million YouTube views last year with “My Box in a Box,” a spoof of a Saturday Night Live spoof, Relles turned his attention to politics this year. He and his partners created “I Got a Crush on Obama,” a runaway YouTube hit showing a Howard Stern model pining for the Democratic presidential candidate. That’s drawn 2.4 million views. Now, Relles has followed up with “Debate ’08: Obama Girl vs. Giuliani Girl,” a “Beat It”-like showdown with two hot girls singing the virtues of their respective candidates. Released on Tuesday, it’s the No. 6 most-viewed video on the site this week, drawing more than 350,000 views. Relles hopes to keep the buzz going through the election season with BarelyPolitical.com, a Web site devoted to political comedy. It might just have legs: Traffic to the site crashed it yesterday, and it has pissed off Rudy.
