Where Sony really got its colorful bunnies

Kozyndanbunnies Via Adrants, Sony has issued this statement about its new Bravia ad: “There is suggestion that there is a similarity between an illustration by Kozyndan and the new Sony Bravia ‘Play-Doh’ advert. Sony would like to stress that the advert conception, creative and final animation is not based on any pre-existing artwork.” Which is true. How do I know? Because it’s based on my troubled psyche! It’s been well established that I enjoyed Play-Doh well into my 30s, and I’ve confided in co-workers that huge colorful bunnies chase me in my nightmares. A few of them needed counseling themselves after last year’s corporate outing, where I broke down screaming, “The bunnies are coming! Don’t let them get me!” We were on a whale watch in Boston Harbor at the time. Strange, if you lick the new Bravia ad, it tastes like rabbit stew.

The original artists are apparently pissed (check out their website). The production company asked for their artwork?! Duh, it was ripped off people! Collect your precious awards from your dumbshit peers. Get your promotions. Whatever. Advertising is for faux artist wannabes.

Indeed, so many advertising folks sit around stroking their chin hair and pretending to be more than the tireless hacks they truly are.

Plus, Chiat/Day used this song when launching the original iMac.

Most people in advertising are hacks. This kind of stuff really is lame. They call you creatives, go ahead and create then.

It's clearly a rip off. The End.

Did it ocur to anyone that it isn't a ripoff? Sometimes, 2 people can have the same idea. Besides the team that created this spot are really good.

Geo,

Lots of "good" creative people crib stuff. It's a hallmark of our industry.

"Crib?" What does a baby's crib have to do with advertising? Sheesh, no wonder commercials are so bad.

The team that created this have been accused of pulling their ideas from the internet before for Sony...has everyone else not seen this youtube clip from Late Night with David Letterman yet? With colored bouncy balls being thrown down Gilbert Street in San Francisco? Maybe you should. Isn't this creative plagerism too?

c'mon, they're "good" creatives, they would never lift an idea from somewhere else.

When will the youtube video of an office building exploding with paint surface?
