Tom Tancredo’s political ads are a blast

Backpack Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo denies playing the “fear card,” yet this spot about Islamic jihadists attacking an American shopping mall is stirring up some controversy. “There’s nothing over the top about this,” Tancredo’s campaign manager, Bay Buchanan, tells CNN. The ad refers to “Islamic terrorists ... frothing with hate” and takes a swipe at “the 20 million aliens who have come to take our jobs.” Tancredo is known for his fiery far-right rhetoric, having previously called Miami a “third-world country” and advocated bombing Muslim holy sites as a “deterrent” to attacks on the U.S. When we last checked the polls, Tancredo was stalled at around 1 or 2 percent by most counts, and seems to have about as much chance of gaining the nomination as Bay Buchanan. Or her brother Pat, for that matter.

Who exactly told you Tancredo wanted to bomb them as a "deterrent"? Please let us know so we can't trust what they say as well.

The fact is he suggested that as a worse-cast response if several nukes went off in U.S. cities. Figuring out who comments like that are directed toward and what U.S. policy that's similar to is left as an exercise.

And, needless to say, protecting the U.S. from terrorist infiltration isn't a "far-right" position; it's the responsibility of the government, something that both the Dems and GOP have undermined through their support for illegal activity.

Thanks for alerting me to the Tancredo ad. If he were a real candidate it'd be scary. But you should see Giuliani's ad attacking Hillary on the immigration issue. It's been on a couple blogs, but here's the direct link:

Much scarier (and much funnier).

The only thing alarming about the Tancredo ad is that he is the only candidate to state what is so painfully obvious -- Islamo-Fascists want to kill us. They've said it. They've warned us. And in case any of you were too busy obsessing about awards, they've actually followed through on it, killing more than 3,000 innocent Americans just 6 years ago.

It is hard to believe that we are only a few generations removed from the Holocaust, when millions of naive Jews refused to acknowledge the evil that surrounded them and walked willingly into the showers of death.

Hey... I think I've seen this before but where is the daisy?

Threatening to bomb Muslim holy sites IF attacks happen in the United States is the only way moderate Muslims are going to force terrorists to knock it off instead of standing by and secretly cheering everytime a non-muslim child dies.

The only thing scarier than the ad might be the comments on this page.

The Jews were naive and deserved the holocaust? Muslims cheer when children die?

Seriously, people, are we that far gone?

Joan,

Perhaps you should put down the art books and pick up a history book. Or a newspaper.

I never said the Jews deserved their fate. But it is a sad fact that many believed the Germans were too civilized to do what they did. That denial and naivete led to many deaths. Of people who would no doubt made great contributions to mankind. Perhaps a cure for cancer. Or the discovery of alternative energy. We will never know.

As for Muslims cheering for the death of infidels, have you not seen footage of Palestinians dancing in the streets after 9-11? Are you unware the Palestinians are building a museum to honor suicide bombers? Muslim leaders have been quoted as saying, "we love death more than you love life."

But you are correct, "Muslims don't cheer when children die", "Muslims cheer when other Muslims die." Witness the rioting in Gaza or the infighting between Sunni militias in Iraq. Or the butchering on the streets of Islamobad.

We are not that far gone. Nor are we stupid enough to believe that there is any protection offerred by 3000 miles of ocean or 700 miles of rickety fence.

you say tancredo ... i say tomato(e) ... not to get all political here ... BUT ... the only path to peace is to stop hating -- or at least to refrain from taking action based on hate ... PERIOD ... it's that impossibly complex and ridiculously simple ... i KNOW i'm not strong or wise enough ... so, let's just hope none of US ever have our fingers on the button ...

tancedo ... tomato(e) ... potato(e) ...

And how many innocent civilians have been killed in US wars in Iraq and Afganistan? Estimates suggest over 100,000. Let's stop talking about this in terms of defense. Sheesh.

Muslims Against Sharia commend Congressman Tancredo for clearly defining the enemy and standing up to Islamist lobby and PC establishment.
