Smashing Pumpkins sue label over Pepsi ad

Pumpkins Smashing Pumpkins are suing Virgin Records for using the band's name and music in a "Pepsi Stuff" promotion with Amazon.com. The group claims its “artistic integrity” is at stake, but the whole thing is generating more press than their last five albums combined, so the lawsuit’s probably well worth the price of filing. (Maybe Virgin sued itself in an effort to build buzz and move some Pumpkins product. These guys haven’t been that popular lately—what’s a record label to do?) Check out the amps in that picture. The group could probably work something out with Target.

Uh, they haven't been with Virgin since 2000. Reprise put out the last SP record and now they are completely independent.

true -- they're truly indie, but Virgin still issues a lot of the older stuff. http://www.amazon.com/Mellon-Infinite-Sadness-Smashing-Pumpkins/dp/B000000WA4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1206462802&sr=1-2

personally, i prefer badfinger. they've got SP beat by miles: half of the BF guys killed themselves. true angst ... truly sad. Pete Ham 4EVR!

By the way, those aren't amps, they're tires. This shot looks like it's from Live Earth, where recycled tires were used as set dressing.

I wonder how many of those copies of Zeitgeist were purchased by Billy?

Actually, looking at the picture. Did Billy steal Michael Keaton's costume from "Beetle Juice"?
