'Assy' finds backseat driver in Toyota Scion
Toyota's Scion has signed on as the exclusive sponsor of Assy McGee, an animated show on Adult Swim about a cop who’s a real ass—and not in a CSI way. Assy is literally an exposed posterior on legs. Who fights crime. No, I haven’t seen the show. Like all sane adults over 30, I gave up on popular culture around the time South Park stopped killing Kenny. TV Week reports: “During each Assy episode this season, which kicks off April 6, a mock commercial for Scion will appear [that lampoons] those local auto dealer spots with the loud-mouthed pitchman. Only in this spot, the loudmouth is Assy, who makes a gassy pitch. It ends with the tag ‘Don’t make me run your ass over.’ ” Wasn’t that Volkswagen’s line right after “Drivers wanted”? OK, I’m actually over 35—and no comments about the “sane” part either. Show Assy some respect, people!
