ESPN's fantasy-sports drama is all too real

Endlessdrama "Don't ... trade ... Prince ... Fielder!" Those are the overwrought dying words of a character on Endless Drama, a faux soap opera created by Arnold to promote ESPN’s fantasy-baseball franchise. Real major leaguers Torii Hunter, Hanley Ramirez, Chase Utley and Jorge Posada share the screen with ESPN celebs and soap-opera cast members from All My Children and One Life to Live. The videos are dead-on in sending up both soaps and the world of fantasy sports. And they’re more entertaining than a Pirates-Nationals game—then again, so is watching paint dry on a dugout wall. The “series” even gets “canceled” in the final episode. Maybe Utley and Posada should have kissed to liven things up. That kind of thing worked wonders for As the World Turns.
