PETA brings its KFC horror show to BostonKFC's really been getting battered lately. First, Moby's pimp-chicken attacked. Then Troma produced Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead. Now, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has hit the airwaves with what the Boston Herald calls “disturbing new ads depicting the bespectacled Colonel Sanders as a sadistic torture monger.” You might remember this as the campaign that FOX refused to run during the Super Bowl. The Herald continues: “The ‘Kentucky Fried Cruelty’ ads ... show a man dressed like the grandfatherly Sanders watching approvingly as guards ruthlessly beat half-human, half-chicken creatures cooped up in a Guantanamo-like prison camp.” Guantanamo-like, eh? Why then, it’d be un-American not to eat at KFC! —Posted by David Gianatasio |

Call me sick, but I find this spot amusing, not disturbing.
Maybe it's because the chicken is a guy dressed up in a chicken costume.

Anyone who thinks PETA actually planned to air a Super Bowl ad is drinking the vegan Kool-Aid. They would MUCH rather be able to say, "FOX refused to air our ad," than they would actually spend $1.5 million on running the ad.
They never had any intention of running the ad. (Go to their site and look at the stacks of news releases about commercials, billboards, etc., that have been "banned.") Making news around a "banned" ad is cheaper than actually running it, plus they can whine about how persecuted they are.
By the way, how many animals do you think PETA could have saved with the money they're now spending to air this ad in Boston? They could have used that money to possibly improve upon the 90 percent-plus euthansaia rate at their Norfolk "shelter."
