I’m actually surprised that that's what you think about the brazilian ladies. And I'm very disappointed with this post, and this blog. And this ad is so prejudiced.. So sad...
Posted by: Bruna | May 8, 2008 6:41:19 PM
Even though I'm a guy and I like hot women as much as the guy next door, I have to echo Bruna's thoughts.
This is wrong in distasteful on so many levels.

i was thinking it made sense b/c of the brazilian wax job

*wrong AND distasteful...

"Although I have to ask how they get those tan lines when they’re usually not wearing anything on the beach?"
I can't believe I read this.
I don't know if the worst are the ads or your opinions about brazilians ladies.
Posted by: Mariana | May 8, 2008 7:08:55 PM
Ridiculous thoughts about Brazil. We have so much more to offer than just young and beautiful ladies.I feel sad for the country, because this definately NOT what Brazil is.
Posted by: Galileu | May 8, 2008 7:26:31 PM
Guys, note the quotation marks, Tim is quoting the unnamed individual who sent in the ad.
Posted by: | May 8, 2008 7:29:14 PM
I'm sorry for all the angry brazilian who can't read quotation marks. But, not only as a brazilian, but as a brazilian woman, it's infuriating to be pictured like some prostitute who just lays on the beach all day, and does tricks at night(or at foreigner countries).

It's advertising people. Not NPR, or Frontline. Chill the F out.

i recall maybe 10-12 yrs ago, whenever. Brazil won the World Cup. I lived in Allston, Mass., a section of Boston w/ a large Brazilian population. Lemme tell you: The level of partying -- and nudity in the street, in several cases -- was something I (an uptight, suburban, public-school Western American type) was totally unprepared for. I mean: this partying went on for *2* weeks. The doors were removed TWICE from my apartment building. The Brazilian flag hung from half the windows on Parkvale Avenue. The year France won, i think they had a wine&cheese at the French Museum downtown. Draw yr own conclusions, people.

Well, I don't think any stereotype would exist if it did not have at least a flick of relationship with reality.
But I never saw more naked people than back when I was in Europe. Would the thinnest sunray appear, all the germans and englishmen unweared their clothes.

Hey, love cachaca, love caipirinhas, love Brazil, love Brazilian women. Love them all. All of them.
Will it sell more Brazilian booze? Hell, probably.
Sorry to those offended -- I really can see your point. But if the Aussies had to put up with Crocodile Dundee for a few decades, at least you can put up with absolutely beautiful women for the duration of an ad campaign. Not to mention great alcohol.

Helo, I´m Brazilian.
Why the woman is using a stripper shoes?
Isn´t she unconfortable in that wood chair (3rd photo) (much confortable if she close the legs!)
I´m very sad. After passing mounths in Irak, many US soldiers are going to Brazil to "relax".
With ads like this, peolple think brazilians are strippers

It is so sad to ber rembered by this images. Sorry tha Ad gus are so limited in their references.

We are THE football country.
But this aint that much different from the time that the Pat's won the "Supper Bowl" after 9/11.
The thing is We live Football. And what yall call football is not football since is mostly played with the hands.
Btw when I used to live in SouthFL the american womans were all over me because of the brazilian lover mith.
Brazilians ain't strippers, we ain't latin lovers, we're just not as fake as the americans who get shocked with this, but run the biggest porn industry in the world.
You must live here to understand us.

The girls whining about these ads are the only female Brazilians who don't look like this and are therefore pissed off.

Posted by: Sami Souza | May 9, 2008 10:35:30 AM
As Brazilian that I am, I admit that unhappyly the feminine nudity could well be admired by its unquestionable beauty, but estereotype of prostitution gained force with this image. I see the nudity "not-aggressive" as beauty, different the majority with its points of view, however, would like to know because Brazil only gains this label when in the Europe innumerable examples that deprave the good customs and they become common destructive vices.
Sorry the bad english.

Yes, Brazil is all about this, cheap drinking and crazy parting , beautiful and tastefull girls like the one in the picture are not cheap as the drinks, but is cheaper than Australia, make money there and come here to spend.
Posted by: Rorion | May 9, 2008 11:16:26 AM
And what about US of A?
we know americans are all ignorant rednecks. and we know these days all that hackers on microsoft and all silicon balley are from India or Brazil.
and what about Europe?
a bunch of racist people. heh
so why bother? they´re just jealous
but the cachaça company is not from Brasil, they are faking that stuff.

Ridiculous
Posted by: Dz | May 9, 2008 11:35:49 AM
"What's more Brazilian than naked hotties with deep tan lines".
Well, this is the same as "what's more north-american than eat A LOT, vote for a stupid person for president TWICE and have no brains at all".
I'll not chill out, and this is not "only" a post. This is how the USA saw our country. It's very wrong. Brazil has much more to show than beautiful and easy women naked. We are NOT easy, at all. I fell sad, disappointed and very frustated with this kind of prejudice.
Posted by: Sally Owens | May 9, 2008 11:52:07 AM
Grosse and tipically of stupid american's tought!
Posted by: Fernanda | May 9, 2008 12:28:26 PM
"vote for a stupid person for president TWICE and have no brains at all".
This guy is talking about Brazil?
Why are you all angry with this ? Brazil is full of cheap drinks and cheap horns, these are the only things that are cheaper in Brazil than abroad, so this is Brazil.
Posted by: Rorion | May 9, 2008 12:45:11 PM
I´m very surprised about the grammatical error: Brasilian with S???
If we write Brazil with Z, so, people who was born in Brazil are Brazilians (WITH Z!!!).
Posted by: Carla Matias | May 9, 2008 1:14:58 PM
Well Rorion, at list our stupid president doesn't think the world is his private yard to play with guns!
AND we acctually know where your country and many other are in the world map. As for you noth-americans, well...
Posted by: Sally Owens | May 9, 2008 1:58:00 PM
Just a message to the foolish people who buy my no-respect.
I don't know why north americans see brazilian girls like that, and some europeans too. I had never saw an american only kissing a beautyful rich girl here, so why you are talking 'bout brasilian sex? come on, what do stupids like you know 'bout that? Some of you, and europeans left your wifes and kids, to come here only to fuck 12yo poor girls...
This ad of shit looks like a teenager thoughts... I'm so sorry fools, but I never fucked so many girls like in USA... oh god, 6 in one week... 1 per day!! I'll never do something like that here in brasil without paying... We have mature horns too here in Brazil, but they looks like angels when you compare with family's american girls... Americans likes fighting and they are buying fight with the more sympathy people in the word since some time ago. Ok, we have the best marcial art too, jiu-jitsu. And I don't like north americans anymore. I hope they get the message, and I think it's so much difficult to make good ads with small brains. You will never do.
Posted by: Bruno Carneiro | May 9, 2008 2:50:41 PM
Everyone is crazy. These pics are very well done and not trashy at all. Get over yourselves. They are also super creative - the tan line is genius.
Posted by: Carlos Rogers | May 9, 2008 2:58:35 PM
Carla, if you're really from "Brasil" you should know "Brasil" has an S when spelled in Portuguese. Personally, I think the ads are cool. I haven't tried Cabana, but will definitely be keeping an eye out for it as a result. Abraço...

"AND we acctually know where your country and many other are in the world map. As for you noth-americans, well..."
"And I don't like north americans anymore."
These people are xenophobics .
Posted by: Rorion | May 9, 2008 3:19:28 PM
Yeah, well Rorion, you started the fight by saying "Brazil is full of cheap drinks and cheap horns, these are the only things that are cheaper in Brazil than abroad, so this is Brazil".
Maybe you should think twice before answer something, ok?
Posted by: Sally Owens | May 9, 2008 4:14:29 PM
"very well done"?! "not trashy at all"?!Please guys, the photos are SUPER stereotyped, like all brazilian women are sexy-hot-cheap for everyone. This is outrageous.
Posted by: Sally Owens | May 9, 2008 4:19:54 PM
So sad. This guy is the pure expression of bad media and internet porn mating and giving birth to a distorted offspring who can't see the spiritual horizon.
Posted by: ephremzimbalist | May 9, 2008 4:43:08 PM
Sally, I didn't say any lie here, and it's true that Brazil is full of cheap drinks and horns, those things are really cheap in Brazil, cheaper than abroad,
it's important to notice that I did not say that all Brazilians are bitches , they are not.
Posted by: rorion | May 9, 2008 7:12:55 PM
"This print campaign for Cabana Cachaça says ‘Authentically Brazilian’ and what’s more Brazilian than naked hotties with deep tan lines. It’s the first thing I think of when I think of Brazil." This is the most stupid point of view that i see here. Most of people here hates this kind of stereotype (bitch stereotype) that promotes the country in the world. Try to do it with the women of your country to see what u got.
Posted by: Brainstorm | May 12, 2008 7:20:21 AM

Maybe I´ll make an ad with a huge titted blonde saying: "Porn around the world is USA"
Porn, the pervert spirit of USA.
Posted by: | May 12, 2008 10:02:22 AM
Maybe this is a fact like the american ones... with the boys resolving thir traumas with shotguns in their colleges. Or the same fact that the american people is more concerned with their freaky religions, like Mormonism, Scientology... etc... or the fact that the austrian people is nazi and incestuous. Prejudice - that is a cute thing. Bunch of detestable assholes

Y'ALL NEED TO LIGHTEN UP!!!! JESUS... HOT WOMEN SELL THINGS... ESP SUPER HOT BRAZILIAN WOMEN, NAKED! WOMEN + ALCOHOL = SALES... ALWAYS... GO INTO ANY BODEGA/ LIQUOR STORE... WHO DO U SEE ON THE WALLS??? NOT THE CONSTITUTION!

Posted by: Felipe Martin | May 12, 2008 7:46:16 PM
Me incluo. É a vida real. Me incluo, mas não me conformo.
O recado é pra quem veste a carapuça.
Até.
