Rip Torn is not sexual-predator stock art

Riptorn This old mug shot doesn't do Rip Torn any favors. But it's a little harsh to feature it in a commercial emphasizing the need to “get sexual predators off the streets.” Cincinnati city councilman Chris Monzel says he’s sorry for using the image in just such an ad, saying he meant to depict a “generic criminal,” not a specific one. (Torn’s mug shot was taken after a 2006 arrest for DUI, to which he pleaded guilty. He’s never been suspected of or charged with any sexual crimes.) Monzel publicly apologized to the actor by placing this ad in the Cincinnati Enquirer.

If this doesn't prove that marketing is media and media is marketing, I don't know what does. Whatever happened to the letter of apology? Does Hallmark not have a card for "sorry I ripped off your image and attacked your reputation because I don't have any oversight for what I do and my personal judgment isn't that good to begin with" anymore?

This article is nothing more than a sham to prevent a lawsuit for defamation of character from Rip Torn. The intent of Monzel was clear to paint with a broad brush and to "hell" with the impact to others. Heaven only knows the Rip Torn is not perfect, but Monzel is while hiding behind the First Ammendment rights that were given to him by those who gave all. Someone should remind the press in this country that They should be reminded of the impact of those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Oh, by the way, this has biblical roots.

Many honored veterans have died for the rights of these poor excuses for journalist to print the trash they write. Caution America; If the people do not wake up and smell the coffee we will be the poster child for a massive 3rd World country and they can scrap all their current freedoms. They and all their lily-livered conscious objectors will have ransomed it off to people who are liars and thieves and will take from them for their own gain. This is simply re-distribution of wealth. But, then again Obama is for CHANGE. Sounds logical to me!

Thank a Veteran for what you have. Then fall on your face and ask the Lord for Forgiveness for not reading his written word and living by them.

What goes around comes around!

God Bless and Pray for God to Bless America, AGAIN.

For the love of God -- can't I like Rip Torn, Obama, AND World War II?!

(I am against pedophilia.)

Hey Rick, the best way to thank our honored veterans is to understand that freedom doesn't mean "everybody has the freedom to be just like me."

Those veterans died for the rights of atheist and socialist Americans just as much as for your rights. You don't own their sacrifice, and it dishonors their memory to pretend that you do.

Some of those veterans were just like: wtf ghey bulletz!!!! Meanwhile God was all Thou shan't kill + wwjd + Here's my OTHER cheek, clueless.

"I swear I killed that woman in Korea."
-- Artie, the producer

(Always I love me the heavy discussion about socialism and theology.)

Some of those veterans were drafted and then in a war all like: ah wtf ghey bulletz!!!! Meanwhile God was all Thou shan't kill + wwJd + Here's my OTHER cheek, clueless = no exceptions, afaik.

OTOH, "I swear I killed that woman in Korea" -- Artie, producer of the Larry Sanders Show and funny.

(Always I love me the heavy discussion about socialism and theology.)

Did you forget the issue? Using any means possible to make your point even if it was based on flawed intel? Oh and you forget the impact to those used to make the point?

No wonder the peace-nikes think George Bush made up all the intel for Iraq.
Frankly, history is a subject that social activisists hate. Wonder why?

When all else fails call names and rebuke fact or history. Remember if you want CHANGE, be ready to pay dealy for it!

Contact Dick Durban of Illinois for your springboard into the Third World!

Fredom is lacking from Socialism so why default to religion? Stop - Think - and Listen. But speaking by the Fisst Ammendment will be the first think lost from this discussion when Socialism is the lsw of the Land.

The Devil know scripture too. Sleep well tonight (Suggest you keep one eye open). And "What the Heck" should be acceptable to you kids! If you are going to curse...whip it out there.

"Did you forget the issue?"

Oy: the issue is that some goofball used a "stock photo" to show us what pedophiles look like, and the photo turned out to be of Rip Torn.

Wait -- are you calling me a peacenik? Let's step outside. Actually, I was for the war before I was against it. So I can say this: W definitely used fudged intel; the real question is whether his ultimate goal was worth the risk he arranged -- a risk to America's reputation and strength, and to the lives of other peoples' sons and daughters. W has had a lot more impact on the world than Dick Durban, and things have gone to... I'll say it. Heck.
