Yes. Just like working in prison. Exactly.

gotta give them credit for doing the 'little' things for their people. They certainly ask a lot of their people, but they give back.

It's totally "ad prison". I was incarcerated there for several years. Trust Me. Worked there every day and night. Slept there. Ate there. Even Showered there.

if youre young and motivated, its a dream job. if youre old and bitter, maybe its prison. they work you hard, but its fun, smart, and they treat you well

Every agency I've worked at has taken all my nights and weekends. The best agencies are usually like that because the people there really want to make the work great.

In its introduction, CPB's employee handbook basically says "We'll take advantage of you and eventually you'll take advantage of this experience..."
Crispin is extremely upfront how they "abuse" their employees. There is some integrity in that, right?
But it can feel like prison.

"Short Bus" would have been more clever and appropriate.

A "prison bus"... Just another one of the great perks for working 90+ hours a week. Where do I sign up?!
Posted by: That Guy | Jun 17, 2008 12:29:11 AM
Hey, 90+ per week ain't for me, but i like that they are doing this.
also, on a semi-related note, just seeing the cannes shortlists coming out, esp interactive, i do have a growing respect for cpb, they don't make "fake ads," I don't think they're a good target anymore. people should spend more time hating on saatchi and others who make fake print campaigns strictly for awards. it ain't right.

I don't know if the job itself has the characteristics of being a "prison" but my daughter who works there the last two years is very excited in being part of the team and is totaly happy although she is not a workaholic.
I wish I had this employer when I was young.

Your daughter must not work in the creative department.
Posted by: | Jun 19, 2008 12:21:55 PM
Yes, Crispin works you hard but as a previous poster stated, they are very up front about it. It might not be the best place to work if you have a young family, but the work is great and the people are amazing. I knew what I was signing up for when I joined the "prisoners" and the place has exceeded my expectations.
Also - I have ridden the bus some myself and have seen Alex and Andrew Keller on there. It makes for an entertaining ride, that is for sure!

it's funny this post started off as, yet another, Adfreak attempt to jab CP+B. What's great is the majority of the comments that followed are positive.
Posted by: | Jun 20, 2008 4:17:18 PM
Why does anyone have to work 90+ hours a week to do great work?
Posted by: | Jun 23, 2008 5:50:57 PM
CP+B also got over 130 people to ride their bike to work on bike to work day in Boulder. I know cause I was one of 'em. It's the kind of place that actually inspires change -- in public transportation and in what we do as an industry. The people that step on the prison bus know that when they get off, they are anywhere but jail. Maybe prison is everywhere else.

stop hating on cp+b. if they want to take the bus to work, then let them.
Posted by: greyguy | Jun 28, 2008 3:25:53 PM
ride it every day, another great perk. and I follow the above poster by saying that agency life is agency life. cp+b is as grueling as the rest.
Posted by: newguy | Jul 3, 2008 8:19:42 PM
It used to be even more grueling, and the work was better than the rest. But, I'm sure it's much more grueling than the other agencies. And the work is still better than the vast majority.
Posted by: xman | Jul 9, 2008 3:10:53 AM
Oh. And Alex doesn't ride the bus.
Posted by: xmen | Jul 9, 2008 3:11:27 AM
Crispin's not changing the world. They aren't even changing advertising. Those of you who have been drinking the Kool-Aid at Crispin will one day wake up in a cancer ward and finally realize what a waste it was spending 90 hours a week of your precious life making Alex Bogus rich.

do you guys think they even read this stuff??

this company has turned my friend into an alcoholic, pill-poppping freak who steals things.
