Federer meets his match in Nike tennis ad

Darbyfederer

For all his superhuman tennis ability, Roger Federer is a bit personality-less and not the most expressive commercial actor. So, Nike pairs him with a Rhys Darby, the standup comedian and star of Flight of the Conchords, in this new spot, timed to coincide with the Championships at Wimbledon. Darby plays Federer’s “secret coach,” always ready to ambush his client with thousands of tennis balls and goofy facial expressions.

Too bad Federer can't act. He could play Tarantino's sibling in a movie.

Who gives a shit if he can't act. Superior athlete who's dominating an era where tennis is more popular than ever. Can't act? Haven't you seen him posing ever so voguely in Men's Vogue?

Very "pink panther." The shot where his coach smashes the vase to hit the ball is funny. But overall, it could have been funnier.
