The golden age of automobile advertising
Finally, a break from overbearing 1980s nostalgia ... in the form of overbearing 1960s nostalgia. Jalopnik’s list of the Top Ten Best Car Commercials of the 1960s is jam-packed with goodies, and hearkens back to a time when Camaros weren’t driven exclusively by mulleted freelance roofers and there was more to Abe Vigoda’s career than providing ageist punch lines for Conan O’Brien. But my vote goes to the ’68 Pontiac GTO spot, if only because watching people in lab coats hit things with hammers excites me in ways it probably shouldn’t.
