ESPN ends torrid fling with Ashley Madison

Ashley2

You can add "ESPN is yanking a commercial for an infidelity matchmaking service" to the list of sentences we never thought we’d read. According to ABC News, the sports network was asked by its parent company, Disney, to stop running TV commercials for AshleyMadison.com, a dating Web site for not-so-happily-marrieds. The cheating service’s president, Noel Biderman, is taking this as well as could be expected for a professional enabler. ESPN, he contends, is silly with beer ads, and he doesn’t see much difference between that product and his. Interesting. If he has time, we have some other things we’d like him to compare.

Yet...they still have phone sex numbers late (and not so late) at night...yes thanks to sexting, phone sex and 1-900 numbers are making a comeback :O

As vile as this service is...they gotta get rid of the night exchange and girls gone wild videos before I say please remove the ashley madison ads...as for the beer...please...but ESPN has been known to be liberal with their ads when there isnt a league or the NCAA involved. (Even then they let Orbitz get away with some of their gay friendly travel ads during their presenting sponsorship of the Women's Final Four telecast which I'm sure ruffled some NCAA feathers given that they didnt like a broadcast sponsorship partner to begin with given how much of a tied house they are with their sponsors.

There's a difference between "dating" hotlines advertised to desperate singles and specifically encouraging married people to sabotage their relationships and possibly their families. I can see how people would view AshleyMadison as the more offensive service, and their president's weak defense of his own company didn't help much.

Good job Disney and ESPN. Ashley Madison is nothing more than a place for the internet scammers and the webcam-whores to advertise and get people to give up their credit card info so they can sell it. or to get you to pay by the minute to watch them have sex on the cam.
Again, GOOD JOB DISNEY & ESPN !!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Ashleymadison and it's CEO are disgusting. Thank you Disney and ESPN and the CNN Primetime newsreporter who interviewed the CEO should be commended for standing up for integrity and honesty and standing up for marriage. There are many more people who believe in the sanctity of marriage - it's time for all of us to stand up and shout out against Ashleymadison and this type of moral corruption.

I discovered that my husband posted a profile on Ashleymadison.com. Now what? I am distraught. Married with 2 young kids.

My family including myself, my cheating husband, a 10, 14, 17, and 19 year old are all in counseling after my kids found pictures of him and his lover facilitated through this agency. That's $100/week per person. That doesn't include the raw pain, lack of sleep, and other trauma that makes up our current lives. This service doesn't post comments about what happens when this betrayal comes to the surface. Everything is portrayed in their ads as exciting--they don't have the guts to include "the rest of the story."
