Nike commercial gives Olympics some soul
There's no shortage of inspirational images in this new Olympics-themed Nike spot, brilliantly anchored by the Killers song "All These Things That I've Done," celebrating 20 years of "Just do it." And speaking of anchors, all that's left is to add Jason Lezak's Monday-morning swim to the end of the montage. There's plenty more about the spot at Nike.com. |

Let them have their smug and their cool, confined by fashion and peer.
I love you for your courage in this frightened atmosphere.
I love you for your courage in this frightened atmosphere.
Oh, there are so few brave one's like you. Need I explain?
Never wondering what to do, what to venture, what to gain.
And, you have loved, in a total way, from flesh to soul.
You speak, without coy without pose.
Your eyes can see that the emperor has lost his clothes.
And what's more, you'll tell the whole world what he stole.

This is last week's news. You really like that song? For real? How about those lyrics?

Stupid retro visuals cut and pasted together, its like pulling names out of a hat.
Music using the key word "soul", more borrowed interest nobody in general new about to begin with.
The first graphic states "everything you need is already inside".
I guess that answers the question,"is it you".
WTF, looks like a Gatorade but sounds like a Nike? Or, were they going for the old JC Penny vibe, you know "its all in side" ?
Is this what they mean by "integrated" advertising?
And I saw it in the web, does that mean i saw the "digital" version.
Regardless, I feel empowered now and my "got soul" levels our on the rise.

Sweet mood reel, can't wait to see the advert.

I like it. It reminds me of that one a bundle of summers ago I spent in love with the Killers, though I know that's not the effect Nike wanted to have. Really, I never liked "All these things that I've done" too much—repeating a semi-interesting line does not make for good music—but riding the visuals, the whole video is kind of giving me goosebumps. It could be this overly air-conditioned office, but I'll credit Nike this time.
