Jack White doesn't like Coca-Cola anymore
Jack White, who once wrote a song for Coke, is now protesting the soda company's use of a song he wrote for the upcoming James Bond movie. Thankfully, the argument isn't one about artistic integrity but licensing, where White has a leg to stand on. "Jack White was commissioned by Sony Pictures to write a theme song for the James Bond film Quantum of Solace," says a letter from his management, "not for Coca-Cola. Any other use of the song is based on decisions made by others, not by Jack White." Fair enough. Another possible reason for White's reaction is that the song, a duet with Alicia Keys, might suck and he doesn't want the backdraft to singe his overrated band's reputation. Only time will tell, I guess.

Why mask your contempt for White Stripes with such a weak conclusion? Maybe Mr. White objects to the unauthorized use of his work by a multinational with the means to pay him.

If you have seen The White Stripes live, you would never say overrated. But the song probably does suck. All Bond songs suck.

Aishiori: Of course he does, and I addressed that point. Also, let's be fair; my contempt was hardly "masked."
