Geico's Kash rears his ugly head once again
Geico's much-maligned inanimate wad of bills, known as "Kash," returns in these two new spots by The Martin Agency. In the ad above, the banknotes briefly flutter in the breeze. That's pretty much the highlight of the action here. To his credit, though, the guy who plays the stereotype hick rancher really does seem inbred. The gecko is also back in some more palatable offerings. Maybe the lizard could eat or burn or tear "Kash" to shreds in a Japanese monster-movie style "Gecko vs. Kash" commercial. "Cavemen vs. Kash" would also be fine. Just as long as there's no Kash back. |

Why is every GEICO campaign intolerably bad? I don't know which I hate worse... (well, actually the one with the cavemen is likely the worst by a good margin)
It's like Subway, always, ALWAYS bad creative....

Listen idiot. The spot with the buttons flying off with 1812 playing in the background made me laugh out loud.
And for the record, I like the "kash" spots more than the gecko, but less than the cavemen.

Their ads are okay. I just can't wait to see what companies are going to show for the superbowl. Those are usually pretty good.

i have to admit though, i do enjoy that groove-y remix at the end of the commercials

I don't think the kash spots are that bad really.

Does Dean work for The Martin Agency? ;-)

These are the worst ads I have seen in 2008 and now they are running in 2009? The client, creative, account people, and producer should be fired. The Director should give back all the money he was paid as well. It's truly that bad.

Kash is growing on me...the cavemen were a one off joke about PC that got tired fast (although i am the only living soul who LIKED the sitcom) the Gecko is still king...he is funny, however the fat uncle of the croc hunter (RIP, Steve) needs to go...he is stupid.

awwwwww poor bitter little Rich

Worst campaign Geico has ever produced. I'll still use them to insure my auto if it's cheap though.

David, it seems like you and Dean are the bitter ones. I find the whole message board thing entertaining, and sometimes (in your case) laughable. Unfortunately for GEICO, I find their ads totally insufferable, and their rates/service hasn't enticed me to utilizing them either.
Anyhow... y'all have a good day now, hear? ;-)

I think Kash is great. I thought he was friggin creepy at first but he's growing on me. I also can't get that damn song out of my head!!! Love it!

the geico kash ad's are the best commercials on tv, so weird and great. everyone i know agrees. the cavemen commercial when they take off their motorcycle helmets and hurt you is playing is great as well, other than that im over the cavemen

I think these ads are good. They stay in your head for a while after you watch them. It has a catchy song at the end, which you will now associate with geico. And in these tough economic times you dont need to cast as many people if your mascot is an inanimate object!

I think the Kash ads are great. You all sound bitter that you didn't think of something that simple first. The premise is easy, it's memorable, it's tangible (there's the money I can save) and the music stays in your head. It gets the point across in a humorous and memorable manner, what else should good advertising be?
You all must work on those dancing SoBe ads or something. Now, THOSE are bad...

I like Kash. There's just something very creepy, yet funny about his silent presence. I think it's fun and memorable... and that's not a bad thing!

who did the original song for the kash commercials? 'sometimes it feels like somebodys watchin me' i cant find it ne where

Omg, I friggin' love Kash!!! =) I also thought he was creepy, but in a funny way.
"he's peering deep into your soul" with those big, googly eyes! too funny.

Geico is obviously out of cash, and came up the idea of Kash out of desperation, and an over reliance on their reputation to put out quirky ad campaigns. This time they missed the mark. AND, it's obvious that all of the positive comments above are from either Martin or Geico execs trying to CYA!

whoa whoa wait. I think this guy is way better than the caveman or gecko, because he actually makes a good point about why I should switch to Geico. All the Gecko and Cavemen do make me laugh a little, but car insurance is no laughing matter.
I wrote about it hither:

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned my favorite, the Geico squirrels! I'm glad they didn't continue them as you can't beat that first one. The Cavemen were funny for the first few ads, but got overdone way too many times, making it pointless. I love the Gecko most of the time. I don't like Kash, it wreaks of the neon "hi!" commercials.

The Kash commercials are hilarious! They're so random; and they're dumb, I know, but it's the dumbness that makes them memorable. By the way, for anyone who's wondering, the song is Somebody's Watching Me by Mysto & Pizzi. The original is by Rockwell.

The new "Kash" commercial with the laughably sanitized black girl sitting and receiving text messages is so anti-white racist.
I would love to see a white girl look down to a black girl and simulate vomiting as a reaction. That is exactly what the black girl does in this ad. I will make sure that The Martin Agency gets sued for this ad.
Have a Nice Day RACISTS!
WAKE UP WHITE PEOPLE!
