The Ladders only wants the worst monsters

Here's a new commercial from Fallon Minneapolis for premium job-search site The Ladders, showing a bunch of small-fry monsters trying (and failing) to wreak havoc on a cityscape and instill fear in its populace. "If you think about it," says the voiceover, "this is what makes The Ladders different from other job-search sites. We only work with the big talent." The site evidently only deals with executives who make $100,000 or more—personified in the spot by a suitably devastating Japanese creature. It's a nice twist on the usual Godzilla ad theme, with the added bonus of seamless dressing down Monster.com and its ilk.

I really liked this idea when they did it for Garmin.

I like it. It says 'take that, Monster.com' w/o naming names, and the monsters and their tiny powers (like the little fireball) are memorable.

Nice to see an obscure Japanese monster like Guilala (from "The X from Outer Space") make an appearance. These commercials are almost always looked upon fondly.

Great all around. Nice to see Guilala getting his face out there and perfecting his craft.

Actually Guilala is the star of a new version of "The X from Outer Space". I'm not certain when the movie will be released from Japan. The storyline will certainly be updated, but as you can see, the monster hasn't really changed much. What has Japan got to loose? Godzilla is still on hiatus, and the newest Gamera film was a hit!

With Guilala's appearance on The Ladder's TV commercial, I wonder of there will be a mass distribution of this re-make in the US?

Ad may be good - but The Ladders is a scam. They mostly hack jobs from other boards and DO NOT AND CANNOT guarantee that either the jobs or the talent are 100K. It is a complete falsehood - what our parents called "lies." Their resume writing service is also a scam.

BUYER BEWARE: THE LADDERS WILL TAKE YOU DOWN

The ladders was a bait & switch to get contact information

Are you serious? I ran this by all the regional guys in my office and frankly it pisses some of them off.
It depicts anyone making less than 100k as a bumbling, idiot. But that's not even the worst of it; when the "successful" monster shows up, he destroys everything in sight - buildings, people, everything. What's the message here?!
Oh, and the "clever" reference to monster.com.... yeah - not that clever.
