Padma's hamburger ad redefines food porn
Well, here it is: the new Padma Lakshmi commercial for Hardee's/Carl's Jr. that we mentioned back in February, when it was being filmed. It certainly doesn't skimp on the sexual imagery, as the Top Chef beauty opens wide (really wide) to take her first bite of the Western-bacon monstrosity. Plopped down on an apartment building's front steps, she hikes up her skimpy dress and licks the burger all over until, in the heat of the moment, it promptly drips its sauce on her lower leg. Outside of the car wash, it doesn't get more food porn-y than this. Paris Hilton, please pack your knives and go. Via The Food Section. Does Anybody else find the Carl's Jr commercial with the doctor who can only think of bourbon offensive? I'm not even in the medical profession, I'm offended by it!

Okay, kudos on the smoking eye candy, but for the love of God, PLEASE stop with this campaign already. Between idiot guys who can't navigate a supermarket or a kitchen, creating B.S. premises that don't exist (such as the hellacious, nonsensical dilemma of grabbing breakfast at a diner), the too-cool VO and the amped up, over the top, fingernails on chalkboard food sounds, the work for Carl's Jr is hands down the most annoying stuff on the air. Sucks is too good a word....seriously.

People are talking about the "model advertising food" taboo, but what about the (former?) Hindu eating beef taboo? I know she's pretty Westernized, but to me it adds to the something-wrong-here feel, along with the general grossness of all their commercials.

Hey, on a different Carl Jr. ad topic, has anyone caught the radio campaign for the chain's new Bourbon burger? Heard it in Palm Springs yesterday.
The catch? You have to be able to laugh about alcoholism and 12-step programs. If you can do that, it's great.
"Honey, don't talk to me about Bourbon burgers....I only need a Bourbon burger to go to sleep at night....I only have three Bourbon burgers a day. What's wrong with that?"
I'm paraphrasing, but I got a good laugh out of the radio spot. Of course, it could rub some program people the wrong way.

if you're offended by the bourbon burger commercial, you are a huge weeping vagina. get over it. it's clever - it's a parody of addictions in general, not just alcohol. anyways, this commercial is kinda hott. she's pretty and that burger looks damn gooood. Makes me hungry actually. and i think her tits are real, LOVE. Also wyatt, are you hindu yourself? i'd just like to say your comment was pretty idotic - not ignorant as hindus are not supposed to eat meat, but it's just a ridiculous thing that YOU'D feel something was "wrong" about. like "wait a second, there err one of dem hindus on the television eatin a burger - that ain't riiiight". it just rubs me the wrong way because, well, you're just not in a position to make statements like that. anyways, it's just a stupid commercial, it's over in 60 seconds....

The writing in this campaign is so dimwitted and forced, and the casting so laughably implausible (Padma eats one of these burgers instead of saffron risotto? Audrina got her beach body this way?) that even with the atrractiveness of the talent these spots are barely endurable.
