Tampax perfect for guys who have girl parts
Is Tampax marketing to guys now? If not, there isn't much point to this bizarre 12-minute ad from Leo Burnett in which a boy wakes up with "girl parts ... down there." Don't get us wrong, periods are nothing to be ashamed of, and guys should be understanding about that time of the month. But those are messages that can be conveyed in under a minute, aren't they? This video has its moments, and it's nice to see P&G trying interesting stuff, but it feels more like the pitch for a bad sitcom than an ad designed to sell stuff. That said, we'd still like to see the reverse, where a girl wakes up with guy parts and quickly learns to fear tetherball. |

This video is...disturbing. It really does not relate to women at all, is reminiscent of the movie "Juno", and I don't really sympathize for the character (am I supposed to?). Not a fan...not a fan.

I'm a chick, and I found it enormously entertaining. (Then again, I liked "Juno" pretty well, too.)
While I doubt one can pop one in the first time and get right back to French class comfortably, I have to give LB credit for trying something different with a product that doesn't change much from year to year.

I saw this and checked out the "blog"...way too weird. Why would girls/women want or even feel comfortable with a 16 year old boy speaking for a tampon brand?
Again, it's interesting. A great experiment in the social media world, but off target and I think, off brand. Plus it's supposed to come off as "real" but it feels oh so forced. Would be quite interested to know how many women were on the creative team...
...I'm guessing 0.

I agree with the first comment...'not a fan'.
I don't need to know why or what about it bothers me, it just does and I don't think kudos should be given for trying something different in a case like this. I also agree I would like to see the reverse where a girl wakes up with 'boy parts'. Hey, maybe they can do this for athletic cups for girls with boy parts...now that's something that might at least be entertaining and fun to watch.
I mean, c'mon...consumers are going to use their brand for this problem and I doubt this is going to sway opinions or attitudes about Tampax.

It kept me watching. I've never thought about this product before and found the entire ad pretty entertaining. Maybe the target market is single dads who need to think about their daughters going through puberty?

uhhh? seems like a waste. interesting approach, although not the creative breakthrough i was expecting. the idea isn't exceptionally "out there," and they could have done a lot more in twelve minutes to make it more entertaining. felt really flat and didn't do much for the brand.

It was pretty hilarious!!! I'm a 25 year old male and was laughing my a$$ off. You people who think it sucked should take a chill pill. It's like guys take their man fellow parts for granted and then what happens when you lose it. F'in hilarious! I grew up with 2 older sisters and I usually laughed at the fact they tried to get me to go buy them a Tampax from grocery store. You folks need to learn how to laugh more often...
