A few of advertising people's favorite things

Domo

Given how they prize originality, advertising people can be awfully predictable sometimes. Their tastes in fashion, technology and culture tend to blur together. Now, there's a site that celebrates the sameness of their preferences: Things Marketing People Love, an industry takeoff of sorts on Stuff White People Like. The site is collecting the ties that bind marketing folk together, like an unnatural lust for Nike Plus and Threadless, scribbling in moleskin journals, and wearily and loudly lamenting late hours and unread e-mail messages. Submit your own to the canon on Twitter by sending a message to @tmplove.

Kind of wish there was more of a point of view to TMPL, it's pretty much a list of stuff. Stuffwhitepeoplelike at least has some sort of rationale for why they post things.

Well i submitted 4 things and none of them were selected so boo hiss to TMPL!

Maybe it's because they could sense my disdain for marketing people yesterday? It's not my fault. I deal with advertising, digital, pr, design, marcoms people day-in-day-out and all the agency people are total wankers!

They come in to meetings with their distressed denim and their male scarves and their blazers and use big words like 'rss feeds' and then feel the need to explain what that is becuase you're just a corporate exec what could you possible know about the internets???

And they make loooong ass powerpoint presentation proposals when they could have just saved us all some time by writing a one page word doc!

And when they send you something with errors and isn't formatted properly they always use the old 'oh you're on a pc right? i sent that from a mac'
Are you serious??? yes.

I tell ya - if i had a dollar for everytime i had a 'then what the hell do i pay for?' moment i would be one rich lady..

Loucifer,

If you don't like the way they do business at Agency.com, you should just tell them.

On a side note, I have my doubts about your qualifications for being a "lady"
