Oops. Macy's thinks Phillies won the Series

Macy425

The New York Yankees are up 3-1 over the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series, with Game 5 on Monday night. But this news has not reached the Macy's marketing department, which is congratulating the Phillies for a hard-fought series victory in the full-page ads running in Philly today. Oops. Via AgencySpy and Deadspin.

They're just psychic.... they have high hopes

Having worked on congratulatory ads before, publications have two ads that run if one of two things happen:

1. We won, holy shit, we are awesome
2. We didn't win, holy shit, we tried

So I think Macy's is getting blamed for this, however, more likely than not, it was the publication picking up the wrong artwork/ad material.

I guess Macy's gets a bunch of press and probably a make-good insertion or two.

Go local sports team.

actually its a mistake to run either today - the World Series isn't over yet... so there isn't a winner or loser yet

Looks like FOX News announced the Phillies victory and someone at Macy's was watching.

Mathematically impossible for either team to have won on Sunday night and that was known as early as Thursday night. Why would Macy's even submit an ad this early?
