BlackBerry, Apple—it's all the same to U2
BlackBerry shares its love for U2 in a spot that's mainly footage of the Irish rockers on stage. Most of the Web buzz has centered on the band—long associated with the iPod and Steve Jobs—eschewing Apple for this RIM promo. As if Bono really cares who signs his checks. The Edge probably texts LG constantly seeking an endorsement deal; there's already an LG Edge phone, and guitarists can be greedy bastards. As for Sister Hazel's newly minted marketing pact with Ford, well, times are tough in Detroit, and that's probably the biggest act the carmaker could afford. —Posted by David Gianatasio |

T-Mobile gets to bottom of butt dialing issue
This T-Mobile spot for the BlackBerry Flip posits that a cell phone call can be made using one's buttocks. It's an intriguing concept, and if it works, it would save time and effort, allowing those of us who are too lazy to work a keypad the old-fashioned way to dial without removing the phone from our pants. Unfortunately, like so much of what you see in commercials, it doesn't work that well in real life. I know because I've tried it. In fact, I'm wiggling all around on my chair as I type this very post. Frankly, I'm getting sore. And my co-workers are looking at me funny. It's research, people! |
