Audrina's Carl's Jr. ad not wholly off-putting

One of my biggest fears in life is that I will stain my gold lamé bikini with teriyaki sauce while eating a big fat burger on the beach. So, I'm really feelin' for Audrina Patridge (of The Hills fame) here. This latest Carl's Jr. spot is about as real as her popular "reality" show. But shockingly enough, I don't hate it. I appreciate that it's a somewhat more natural setup than having Paris Hilton hose down a luxury car while sucking and licking the burger on all fours (although she is the Einstein of that act). Plus, I was repelled by watching the smart and beauteous (and ex-Mrs. Salman Rushie) Padma Lakshmi indulge in similar sucking and licking, which I found kind of an icky, desperate sellout. Padma, we know you're sexy—you don't have to do this! (On the other hand, wouldn't Lakshmi be great in an ad for Kashi?) But back to Audrina, who more than holds her own while scarfing down the sloppy, fruit-infused meat sandwich. "To look this good in a bikini, I have to eat a lot of fruit," she says in the shorter, better version of the commercial. Then she delicately removes the pineapple ring from the top of the Hawaiian-style burger and pops it into her mouth. The tagline, perhaps an attempt at justifying all the sexism that proceeds it, is, "More than just a piece of meat." It's certainly a new way to stuff a wild bikini—but for mere mortals, you might want to place a napkin over your mid-section.

Audrina Patridge is latest Carl's Jr. ad babe

Audrina

Following in the footsteps of Paris Hilton and Padma Lakshmi, reality star Audrina Patridge is the latest thin, beautiful person to pretend that she eats loads of Carl's Jr.'s fast food, having shot an ad for the chain that will break June 24. The star of MTV's The Hills tells People.com: "I had an absolute blast shooting. It was my first experience shooting a spot with food, and when I pulled up, I was literally salivating looking at all the rows and rows of perfect burgers waiting for me!" (Hopefully it was explained that she wouldn't have to eat them all.) Patridge, who wore a reversible bikini on the big day—"in case of any ketchup or teriyaki mishaps!"—talks more about the ad in this behind-the-scenes video from the shoot. "Carl's Jr. is known for having sexy and cool commercials," she says. "This one's going to be at the beach, and it's going to be sexy and funny and just great."

Padma's hamburger ad redefines food porn

Well, here it is: the new Padma Lakshmi commercial for Hardee's/Carl's Jr. that we mentioned back in February, when it was being filmed. It certainly doesn't skimp on the sexual imagery, as the Top Chef beauty opens wide (really wide) to take her first bite of the Western-bacon monstrosity. Plopped down on an apartment building's front steps, she hikes up her skimpy dress and licks the burger all over until, in the heat of the moment, it promptly drips its sauce on her lower leg. Outside of the car wash, it doesn't get more food porn-y than this. Paris Hilton, please pack your knives and go. Via The Food Section. UPDATE: We've replaced the 30-second spot with the even-saucier 60-second version above.

Someone get this surgeon a bourbon, stat!

Yesterday, Carl's Jr. unveiled this ad for the Kentucky Bourbon Burger, a mountainous meatpile that could be renamed the Massive Organ Failure. The spot, made by Mendelsohn Zien, seems aimed at stirring up a bit of controversy, what with a doctor proudly proclaiming his love of pre-surgery bourbon. But I'm not sure I'd be relieved to see my physician burying his face in a burger that, per the chain's Web site, has 730 calories, 32 grams of fat and 1,470 milligrams of sodium, either. Hopefully his own cardiologist has knocked back a few Knob Creeks to get his hands nice and steady.
