'Sesame Street' is hooked on 'Mad Men,' too

"The bear's dripping with gooey honey. He's smiling. This makes me happy." That sounds like something you'd hear on late-night pay-per-view, but in fact it's a line from this Mad Men parody done by PBS's venerable Sesame Street. This spoof beats the one from Saturday Night Live, if only because it stars muppets, though I'm not convinced John Hamm isn't a puppet of some kind—he's too damn "chiseled" to be human like the rest of us. On Sesame Street, the ad guys are supremely stoked when their boss, Mr. Draper, approves their latest Happy Honeybear campaign, and they shower their leader with sycophantic praise. As always, kids can learn valuable lessons from this program that will serve them well and help them succeed later in life. Via The Live Feed.

Don Draper covetously eyes BMW's 3 Series

Bmw-mad-men

Because the world needed more people talking about Mad Men, BMW sponsored the season premiere and put together this classy, mostly period-accurate ad for Vanity Fair, from GSD&M Idea City and photographer Anton Watts. But as Jalopnik points out, Don Draper drives a Cadillac Coupe de Ville. He certainly wouldn't drive the car featured in that ad. That thing might as well have been a spaceship in the early '60s. Of course, we could see these kinds of anachronisms more often if BMW gives the show any more money. Mad Max Men, here we come!

I'll take 'Mad Men overload' for $200, Alex

Madmenjeopardy_copy

Maybe you've been wondering, "Has Mad Men infiltrated every aspect of modern life?" Well, wonder no more. Today's episode of Jeopardy will feature a category devoted to AMC's hit show. If you can't catch that, there's an entire Mad Men-themed Jeopardy game online, with categories like "Ad slogans," "1962" and "When sexism was sexy." (Before you get too interested, that last one isn't real.) So, which promotional frontiers still await Mad Men's inescapable clutches? It seems they won't be happy until people are walking around in Sterling Cooper trucker hats. But the odds of that are ... pretty good, actually.

Philly's Red Tettemer is mad for 'Mad Men'

Redmadmen Philadelphia agency Red Tettemer won us over a few months back with their staffer's topless homage to Miley Cyrus. Now they've followed it up with what is arguably the industry’s best celebration of AMC's Mad Men. With just a few days left before the Season 2 premiere, the Tettemer team posed in true ’60s style for a limited-time version of their Web site. (We’ve posted a full screenshot here for posterity.) If you need even more of a Mad Men fix, check out this snazzy gallery of Season 2 promotional photos and the step-by-step evolution of the show’s new ad campaign.
