We put a man on the moon, we are the richest nation the world has ever known, we ended WW2 while saving Europe, we cured many diseases, we invented modern aviation, we give more money to other countries than EVERY SINGLE EUROPEAN COUNTRY COMBINED, we give more money to Africa for aids research, our people are motivated by individual freedoms rather than government control, we brought down the Berlin Wall etc........
Bottom line, we are a great nation and have been for over 200 years. We just voted in the first African-American in American history.
NOT ONE EUROPEAN COUNTRY HAS EVER PUT IN AN AFRICAN AS PRIME MINISTER OR PRESIDENT.

Now, as far as slavery goes, you could point fingers at Africa for enslaving Jews and it's own people for hundreds of years. Great Britain bought and sold slaves in the 1800's as well. The European slave trade of the 1850's is well documented. Pointing fingers at America is pretty pointless seeing that Europe had slaves before America. Also, America abolished slavery in the 1800's. Maybe you should point the finger in India and Chinas direction right now. They have slaves in their own country.

the usa did exactly what osama bin laden hoped in his wildest dreams they would do. and then some! the usa is still mired in afghanistan six years later. like the soviets and the brits before them the usa shall leave that country tail firmly between legs. there will be no victory. and the monumentally stupid and utterly pointless war in iraq is bleeding the country dry with no end in sight. all this could have been avoided by having even a superficial knowledge of the middle east. but that would require a curious mind and an interest in the outside world. too much to ask apparently.
