Twitter awash in 'Mad Men' ad-vatars

The combination of Twitter and Mad Men, two things marketing people love, is killer. That's why Twitter is now alive with ad people who have transformed their avatars into Mad Men animations, courtesy of MadMenYourself. The promotional site, created by Deep Focus, is the latest entry into the pantheon of avatar applications, such as Elf Yourself and Simpsonize Me. MadMenYourself skips the photo-uploading route for a customization sequence to build your own old-school ad person. The Twitter option is a nice touch. Above are some favorite representations:

@ischafer. Ian Schafer, CEO of Deep Focus.
@danielstein. Daniel Stein, CEO of EVB.
@moth. Tim Shey, co-founder of Next New Networks.
@mikemookie. Michael Maurillo, senior strategist at LBi IconNicholson.
@buddhaplex. Eric Andrande, director of digital marketing at Arnold.

The effort has also helped to spark quite a bit of Twitter chatter about the A&E AMC series ahead of its Aug. 16 third-season debut.

Thanks for the fun portrait gallery, Brian. But--here's irony for you. MadMen app has gone viral, every client's dream, but even intrigued journalist can't remember name of the brand--AMC.

Whoops, that was my fault.
